Textbook:
Physics Principles and Problems by Zitzewitz, Haase and Harper by Glencoe
Grading Policy: Grades for each quarter will be calculated based on percentage of total points possible for that quarter.
Points for each quarter will be earned from the following categories at roughly the following percentages:
- Lab work, projects – 20 %
- Tests and Quizzes – 40%
- Homework – 30%
Grading Scale:
A+ 98 – 100
A 93 – 97 C+ 77 – 79 D- 60 – 62
A- 90 – 92 C 73 – 76 F 59 & Below
B+ 87 – 89 C- 70 – 72
B 83 – 86 D+ 67 – 69
B- 80 – 82 D 63 – 66
Course Requirements:
- Class participation!
- Completion of homework assignments, lab work and projects. Late work will not be accepted unless I am notified at least 1 day in advance.
- Tests will be announced at least 3 days in advance. If you are absent the day of the test you must be ready to take the test the day you return. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
- Check your grade regularly on ProgressBook.
Course Materials Needed Everyday:
- Lab Notebook: You will need to purchase a black lab notebook (graph type). This will be checked and graded.
- Pencil or pen. You will write in pen in your lab notebook.
- Calculator. I will not have one for you to borrow.
- Notes/Homework Notebook, Binder. You are required to detail all steps for any homework problems.
Simple Class Rules:
- Be on time, in your seat, and prepared to work when the bell rings.
- Follow all lab safety rules and school rules.
- If it is not yours, or you have not been instructed to do so – DON’T TOUCH IT!
- Cell phones are not allowed during class.
- Do not bring food or drink into the class (this includes water bottles).
- Give your best effort each and every day! Remember that you will benefit most if you do your own thinking and your own best work! Cheating and/or plagiarism will NOT be tolerated.
